Limited Stay Visa (KITAS)

As foreigners who wish to work or stay for a longer period in Indonesian territory, obtaining a limited stay permit also known as KITAS is a must. Limited Stay Permit or KITAS is one type of immigration permit that granted to foreigners to stay in the territory of the Republic of Indonesia for a limited period. Limited Stay Permit is granted for a maximum period of 2 (two) years and can be extended. Each time an extension is granted no more than 2 (two) years provided that the entire Stay Permit in the Indonesian Territory is no more than 6 (six) years.

KITAS can also grant to foreigners to do work, in a maximum of 90 days and can be extended. KITAS Extension is given no later than 30 days provided that the entire stay permit in the territory of Indonesia is no more than 180 days.

Classification of  Limited Stay Permit in Indonesia

1. Visa for Professional or Expert at WTO
Limited stay permits granted to foreign workers working in Indonesia representing the WTO. In addition, the maximum stays permitted for this visa is 2 years.
2. Employment Visa
Limited stay permits granted to foreign workers working in Indonesia. In addition, the maximum stays permitted for this visa is 2 years.
3. Kitas Investor
Limited stay permits granted to foreign as an investor. In addition, the maximum stays permitted for this visa is 1 or 2 years.
4. Research
Limited stay permits granted to foreign workers working in Indonesia as a researcher and long term training. In addition, the maximum stays permitted for this visa is 1 year.
5. Study
Limited stay permits granted to foreign students who are studying in Indonesia. In addition, the maximum stays permitted for this visa is 2 years.
6. Family Reunion
A residence permit grant to foreign nationals who are marrying an Indonesian citizen. Foreign nationals who follow wives or spouses of ITAS or ITAP holders or legal children of Indonesian citizens. It also can be a foreign citizen and a child of a foreigner who holds a KITAS or KITAP. In addition, the maximum period of stay allowed for this visa is 2 years.
7. Repatriation (For Ex-Indonesian)
Limited stay permits are given to foreigners who have been Ex-Indonesian citizens who are not used for work. In addition, the maximum stays permitted for this visa is 1 year.
8. Retirement Tourist (Elderly)
Limited stay permit granted to foreigners who have entered retirement age. In addition, the maximum stays permitted for this visa is 1 year.
